Family Medical Center of MI is dedicated to quality and excellence in providing integrated, comprehensive and cost effective medical and dental health care to all regardless of their ability to pay.

Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc. is an independent, non-profit community health center, led by an independent and consumer-majority board of directors.

Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc. is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b and receives funding from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). As a FQHC, we provide primary care services to underserved areas on a sliding fee scale based on ability to pay.

Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc. has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims (including medical malpractice claims) for itself and its covered clinicians/practitioners and support staff.
Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc. provides health and dental care using a patient-centered, team-based approach and uses the principles of continuous quality improvement to maintain the highest quality of care.

Family Medical Center is recognized at all sites by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as Patient-Centered Medical Home.

Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc. is consumer-driven and governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc. is an FTCA deemed facility.

This health center receives HHS funding and has Federal PHS deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

History

Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc., is a not-for-profit community health center with more than 40 years of experience serving Monroe, southwestern Wayne, and southeastern Lenawee Counties.

FMC was established in 1979. It began in a renovated school building and employed one provider, one receptionist, a medical assistant and an executive director. FMC served approximately 620 patients when it opened its doors.

FMC has grown to serve nearly 19,000 patients and generate over 70,000 medical, behavioral health, and dental encounters annually. FMC has four sites located in Temperance, Carleton, Monroe, Adrian, Michigan in addition to seventeen school-based behavioral health clinics. FMC employs fifteen primary care providers, four part-time OB/GYN providers, two psychiatric nurse practitioners and one psychiatrist, fifteen behavioral health and specialists, six dentists, four dental hygienists, and more than 80 support, clinical and administrative staff.

FMC works to provide quality Healthcare to its patients and continually evaluates its services to maintain that quality of care. FMC is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a patient centered medical home. FMC uses these standards to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.
