History

Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc., is a not-for-profit community health center with more than 32 years of experience serving Monroe, southeastern Wayne, and southeastern Lenawee Counties.

FMC was established in 1979. It began in a renovated school building and employed one provider, one receptionist, a medical assistant and an executive director. FMC served approximately 620 patients when it opened its doors.

FMC has grown to serve more than 17,000 patients and generating almost 58,000 medical and dental encounters. There are five service centers located in Temperance, Carleton, Monroe and Adrian, Michigan. FMC employs ten primary care providers, three part-time OB/GYN providers, a psychologist, a social worker, a dietician, three dentists, two dental hygienists, and more than 50 support, clinical and administrative staff.

FMC works to provide quality Healthcare to its patients and continually evaluates its services to maintain that quality of care. FMC is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and uses its standards for providing care to its patients. In addition, FMC participates in the BPHC Cardiovascular Collaborative Research Project. Participation in these activities and collaboratives provide opportunities to enhance the Healthcare offered to FMC’s patients.
